Filet Crochet: Geometric pattern

A friend took a picture of this beautiful artwork he saw in a bathroom. Artwork is every where! I thought it was so neat and fell in love with the geometric design flowing throughout. I just had to create a filet crochet pattern for it, but the graphic design could easily be transfer over to cross stitch.

The pattern does not exactly replicate this beautiful piece since it is difficult to make curves using a bunch of little square blocks. However, it does come fairly close. I'm not sure what to call it, beyond bathroom art.

If using 4 double crochet filet the starting chain is 288 stitches. Double stitch in 9th stich from hook. This forms the first open mesh square. Start working the chart from the bottom right to left. The second row is worked left to right. Continue alternating rows like this while following the chart.

For open an open mesh square, chain two, skip two stitches and double crochet in the third stitch. If a closed square double stitch in the next three stitches.

This is chart is free for personal use only. If you feature this chart, link back and give credit where credit is due.

If you use this chart please leave a picture of your finished project in the comments below. I'm always excited to see other people's handy work.

Happy hookin' and stitchin'!
